ABOUT US

The Department of Biosciences was incepted in Union Christian College from 2017 combining the administration and academic management of three life science courses. The U.G.course is B.Sc.Biological Techniques & Specimen Preparation. The P.G. courses are M.Sc.Biotechnology and M.Sc.Bioinformatics. These courses are conducted in the self-financing mode and has withstood the test of times. In view of the demand and opportunities these courses provide, the college decided to pool the resources and infrastructure enabling them to work as a single functional entity.

Department has entered into academic collaboration and student exchange program with Department of Biology, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA, which aims to promote excellence and impart knowledge and skills in the broad areas of Microbiology and Biotechnology, between the two institutions. As per the MoU, up to 30 students can visit IUP campus, Pennsylvania, USA for 5 weeks advanced hands-on training in various disciplines of Microbiology and Biotechnology, especially in Genomics and Proteomics every year. Interested students can also pursue their Masters / Doctoral program at IUP, subject to the conditions laid down in the MoU.
